| April 18 , 2008: New Orleans, LO – Vancouver-based Hotson Bakker Boniface Haden architects + urbanistes (HBBH) has been short-listed to redevelop New Orleans riverfront, as part of a vision to transform the banks of the Mississippi River into the greatest riverfront in North America.
Through a Request for Proposal, The New Orleans Building Corporation (NOBC) has short-listed HBBH as part of one of four consultant teams selected to compete for the project. The winning team will produce comprehensive design and construction documents for the first phase of the “Reinventing the Crescent Development Plan”, which includes roughly 70 acres of new landscape and urban design for the Mississippi Riverfront neighbourhood. The project will incorporate the development of several key architectural elements including a new amphitheater, a wharf structure, and an ecumenical sanctuary.
Alan Boniface, Partner at Hotson Bakker Boniface Haden, will be in New Orleans on April 21st to present on behalf of the firm. “This is an exciting opportunity to showcase the many waterfront projects HBBH has developed world wide over its 35-year history,” says Boniface. “Our extensive experience in creating people-first, mixed-use, public waterfronts will contribute greatly to making the New Orleans’ riverfront a focus for the renewal of the city.” Read more.
