Joost Bakker joins the firm and co-authors the redevelopment of internationally renowned Granville Island
Sandbar turned industrial port, Granville Island was once Vancouver's hub of manufacturing and industrial warehouses. By the 1960s it had become a derelict site of empty buildings and lost potential.
Through a visionary approach to design and planning, which included maintaining the original integrity of the site, Norm and Joost revived Granville Island and set precedence as a world-renowned example of mixed-use waterfront development.
